Oh my gosh I got a trial subscription! Ok, I have to enjoy it for this week because it won't be happening again! I know that it's just a commercial ploy of DA, but still...wheeee: now I get to know what it is to be a beta tester!

You're welcome- I have recently found much enjoyment in giving comments on artwork and am glad that artists such as yourself don't mind my amateur speculations I just have to work on being less shy and coming out of my shell, although the subscription has really prompted me to join the community: I'm trying to make the most of it!

Right on Overall, I think most artists make amateur speculations since we don't get paid for making speculations Hehe... it is simply what we all enjoy. Yeah it took me awhile to build up my courage to voice my thoughts in the beginning, but now it's just plain fun to share As for subscriptions, there's usually a whole bunch of random contests all over the place on here and it's definitely worthwhile to check out since the prizes are usually subscriptions. But even if one doesn't win, it's still a great way of putting an artist's name out there
I meant amateur as in I make comments on pieces of art which are often in a field which I don't have much expertise in- therefore I am unable to perform technicalised critique. Eg: in photography I can't really talk about DOF or ISO as I don't really know what they are or what they do I may just look out for those contests- thanks for the tip!
Hehe right you are I was trying to give you a little more credit since your words sounded wise A technical critique is always nice in general, but I find that the ones that talk about the interpreted meaning and/or message of your work to be far more helpful and gratifying
